VfL Bochum 1848 x Societas: A Tribute to Bochum and its people

Bochum is more than a city; it’s a feeling. Deeply rooted in tradition, resilience, and community, it reflects the unwavering spirit of the Ruhr region. But Bochum doesn’t stand still—it evolves, adapts, and reinvents itself while staying true to its essence. VfL Bochum embodies this identity, standing as a symbol of pride for its people. Inspired by this connection, VfL Bochum and Societas have created a capsule collection that unites football, culture, and music. With the support of Herbert Grönemeyer, this collaboration captures the essence of Bochum and its unmistakable character.

For over 40 years, Herbert Grönemeyer’s song Bochum has given this identity a voice. A hymn that resonates far beyond the city limits, connecting people and carrying the values of the Ruhr region. This collaboration brings together different facets of Bochum, celebrating its unique spirit.

This collection draws from Bochum’s rich heritage: its industrial past, strong sense of belonging, and deep cultural ties while embracing its continuous transformation. At its heart is the song Bochum by Herbert Grönemeyer, which serves as both inspiration and tribute. Each piece reflects the city’s identity, blending historical references with contemporary aesthetics.

Supporting IFAK Bochum

This project represents more than a creative partnership: It’s a testament to Bochum’s strong sense of community. In this spirit, Herbert Grönemeyer and Societas are donating a portion of the proceeds to IFAK Bochum.

The donation will benefit IFAK’s residential group, which provides housing for six to nine teenagers aged 14 to 18. Many of these young people have faced instability in their lives, whether due to displacement or challenging social conditions. The funds will be used to furnish much-needed communal spaces, creating environments where the residents can connect, relax, and express themselves. These spaces will be developed in close collaboration with the youths to ensure they truly meet their needs and foster genuine inclusion.
